The Community Movement Project helps youth in our rural community access dance, sports, music, and the arts by reducing financial barriers. We believe movement and creative expression build confidence, character, teamwork, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.

The Community Movement Project exists to expand equitable access to dance, sports, and the arts for youth in our community. We believe movement and artistic expression are essential to healthy youth development.

THE NEED

Financial barriers should not decide who gets to participate.

The organization provides financial assistance, resources, and opportunities that enable children and adolescents to participate in high-quality dance, athletic, music, and arts programs regardless of financial circumstance.

Through these efforts, The Community Movement Project seeks to reduce barriers to participation, foster personal growth, and strengthen the cultural and recreational vitality of Ashe County and the surrounding region.

Helping youth participate when cost, equipment, fees, or other barriers stand in the way.

Youth Enrichment & Community Vitality

Supporting high-quality dance, athletic, music, and arts programs that build character and connection. By strengthening the cultural and recreational life of Ashe County and the surrounding region.

Equitable Access

Prioritizing youth who lack financial ability or have not had access due to financial or other barriers.

Financial support for youth who lack the ability to participate in sports, dance, music, or arts opportunities because of cost or other barriers.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Confidence, Teamwork & Character

Support for experiences that help children and adolescents build resilience, confidence, teamwork, character, and meaningful community connections.

PARTNERSHIPS

Program & Partner Support

Support for studios, schools, athletic programs, arts programs, and youth organizations working to make enrichment opportunities more accessible.

Charitable purpose

Organized for charitable and educational purposes, including equitable access to youth enrichment, performance arts, athletics, and movement-based programs.

Confidential review

Applications are handled with dignity. Families are not asked to share their stories publicly to qualify for assistance.

Conflict safeguards

Directors, officers, and related parties may not receive programmatic financial assistance, scholarships, or disbursements from the organization.

Board oversight

The Board governs the organization, meets at least quarterly, and follows bylaws and a conflict of interest policy.
